Gym Launch Scales $24M

A story about how Leila and Alex Hormozi built Gym Launch, and why that same business couldn't be replicated today.
"The first year and a half, he'd be at a gym, I'd be at a gym - different locations, different states. We'd be filling them up and calling each other every night sharing best practices. I was 23, walking into gyms telling owners I could fill up their gym.
We scaled incredibly fast, going from zero to $24 million in realized revenue by year two. But when asked if someone could replicate that success today, absolutely not. The market has completely changed. COVID transformed the fitness industry, Ozempic has changed fitness. The future of fitness looks completely different than boutique gyms.
I know what they're doing in the labs - people are going to be able to soon take a pill and control their appetite. Why would you go to the gym every day if you could just be skinny? A lot of girls don't care about anything else.
The early days were brutal. We had no money, lived in extended stays, and at one point his business partner got access to the bank account where we'd been putting all the money from these gyms and stole it. We even had to move back to my parents' house for two months, and at another point lived with one of our gym clients."
