ZoomInfo's Viral Data Loop
Share
Sam Parr shares how ZoomInfo started and built their business model around data verification and collection.
"The high level view is they mapped out every employee at every company in America - what they do, their contact information, and background about the company. The two founders started by spending 75% of their time just calling the front desk of companies to confirm phone numbers were correct.
Then they got a bunch of different data sources and combined them to make it more readable. Finally, they created a viral loop where people could access some of the data but had to submit their own data to get a discounted price. That created this loop where now they have so much information on different companies - how they work, their contact information, where their office is.
They started just by two guys phone calling. These company data businesses can be cool because you can brute force your way to get a nice little MVP."
