Enterprise Security Blocks Investment

A story about how Shaan missed out on investing in Linear (bug tracking software) due to enterprise security concerns.

"Our friend Sully tipped me off to this 'Superhuman for X' investment thesis. We were looking at this company called Linear, which is bug tracking software. Every big software company tracks their bugs using Jira or some old school ticketing system - nobody loves using Jira, it's just a must-have for organizing bugs. Linear just made a slick looking Jira.

We talked to them and thought about investing. It was a competitive round. I could have got in at the end, but I cooled on it because when I tried to bring it into our company, there were a lot of security concerns. Not that they were doing something wrong, but they had to do a lot of work to be enterprise security compliant and pass those checks. They hadn't done that work yet.

Now in reality, they're going to do that work and it's going to be fine. But it got out of sight, out of mind for me because I stopped using them and forgot about the email thread."
