MrBeast Monetizes Giveaways
Share
A story about how Mr Beast cleverly transformed standard sponsorship deals into viral giveaway videos that benefited both him and the sponsors.
"I remember meeting one guy who worked at this site called Quid. Quid was like these little collectible stickers and cards aimed at a teenage audience. They would go to Mr Beast and say 'hey we'll pay you $50,000 for a sponsored video.'
The genius of Mr Beast was he said 'cool but here's what we're gonna do - that's not you paying me for a shout out midway through one of my videos. Let's make the video about using $50,000 in an interesting way.'
He would do videos where he'd go to a coffee shop and tip the barista $15,000 and film their reaction. He'd say 'thanks so much to our guys at Quid who made this possible.' That video would get 5-10 million views.
For Quid, they were getting way more bang for their buck than any other influencer shout out. So they would up the ante - they'd do $50k, $100k, $200k because each video was getting 10 million views. It was this perfectly symbiotic relationship where the brand was putting up loads of cash and he was using that to create huge amounts of views and subscribers to make himself the biggest creator."
