Primal Kitchen's $300M Exit

A story about how Mark Sisson, a health blogger, built and sold his healthy sauce company Primal Kitchen.

"There was a company called Primal Kitchen which sold for $300 million in 2018. It was started by this guy Mark Sisson - he's 68 years old and he's been a health blogger forever. He created Primal Kitchen which makes dressings and sauces.

The reason it was successful is that regular dressings and ketchup are crazy high in sugar. Like an Italian dressing has so much sugar in it. Even Heinz ketchup - the reason why it's that bright red is there's a ton of sugar in it. Heinz has a $45 billion market cap and makes something like $7 billion a year just in sauces and condiments.

So Mark created these healthier alternatives through Primal Kitchen, focusing on low-sugar dressings and sauces, and ended up selling the company for $300 million."
