Shorts Scale YouTube Views

A story about how Colin & Samir's YouTube channel experienced massive growth through their strategic use of YouTube Shorts.

"Our channel was doing about 1 million views a month, then suddenly jumped to 27-28 million, reaching up to 42 million monthly views. This came from Shorts, but Shorts also propelled our other content.

When Shorts emerged, we realized we could make a Short in a day, whereas it takes a week to two weeks to make a full long-form YouTube video. We started trying it out and had Shorts that pushed 10 million, 20 million, 7 million, 8 million views. Those people were subscribing, and because the Shorts were directly connected to our longer-form content, we were aggregating more viewers who then watched our library of content.

We're now back to around 9-10 million views a month. Shorts aren't as big of a factor and we're not putting out as many, but a lot more people are watching our library now. For example, our MrBeast interview did 1 million views in the first month, but now it's pushing 11 million views. That's the power of building a library of content that can be viewed over the next year, 2 years, 5 years - it has this compounding effect, especially when Shorts are added as an accelerant."
