Nomad List Pandemic Growth

A story about how Pieter Levels' business Nomad List experienced massive growth during the pandemic after years of slower growth.

"I did this presentation in 2015 where I predicted there would be 1 billion remote workers in 2030 and everybody laughed at me. Even in the YouTube comments they were like 'this is ridiculous, where's your sources, this is bullshit.'

Then COVID happened and it suddenly seems very reasonable. Nobody could have seen this coming. If you look at the chart, it doesn't really go anywhere for years. I was thinking 'okay this is bullshit' - I tried everything to make it grow and sometimes it grew and sometimes it didn't.

Then from 2020, we went from under $1 million to $2.5 million a year. I was there to catch that wave because I had been building that momentum and stacking these assets for 10 years. The pandemic fueled a lot of people wanting to be nomads, and I was ready to catch that wave."
