Doug Leone's Recording Focus

Ben Gilbert shares a story about interviewing Doug Leone of Sequoia Capital and his incredibly efficient approach.

"With Doug, we didn't communicate with him at all beforehand. It was all through some other people at Sequoia. We walk in and set up, and someone walks in and says 'Are you ready?' We say 'Yep' and they say 'Great, we'll go get Doug.'

Doug walks in, sits down, says 'Hello, are we starting?' We hit record and did the whole episode. When we finished recording, Doug just goes 'Great, thank you so much' and gets up and leaves the room. Every word I've ever spoken with Doug Leone, except for like 2 or 3, is on the record in the episode you can listen to in our podcast feed.

Later his EA came in and said 'Hey, Doug wanted to know if you guys had any feedback, he's always looking to get better.' But that was it - wow, that's aggressive."
