Gratitude After Illness

A story about Andre, who developed an extraordinary appreciation for life after recovering from a debilitating illness.
"Andre had some illness - he caught some bug or infection that gave him chronic fatigue syndrome. He basically couldn't get out of bed for like 2 years. The guy was in a wheelchair, and nobody knew what it was.
Then he recovered from it, but it was this multi-year thing. Now this guy is the most grateful person you'll ever meet. He'll say 'Dude, I walked today!' It doesn't take much for Andre to be high on life.
Because he was battling and got out of it, now he savors every day as if he hasn't eaten in 2 weeks and is having his first meal. I get that secondary high, that contact high off of Andre because he's around me all the time. I love that about him."
