AI Clothing Size Recommendations
Share
Sam built an AI-powered clothing size recommendation tool that solves the problem of finding the right fit when shopping online, especially for vintage, international, or between-size clothing.
How It Works:
-
Body Measurement Database:
- Created a comprehensive photo with all common body measurements (thigh, knee, calf, sleeve length, etc.)
- Found the most common measurements that clothing websites ask for
- Stores these measurements for reference
-
AI-Powered Size Analysis:
- Built using Claude Code
- Input: Link to the product and a screenshot of the size chart
- Output: Specific size recommendation with reasoning
- Trained using books on how clothing should fit
-
Key Use Cases:
- Vintage clothing on eBay (where S/M/L/XL is irrelevant, must go by measurements)
- International sizing (e.g., Japanese clothing where he wears 3X vs. US sizing)
- European brands with different size standards
- High-end stores where precise fit matters
Current Status:
- Been using it for a couple weeks
- Ordered three items based on its recommendations
- API costs are high ($40 over a weekend, ~$3 per eBay shopping session)
- Currently for personal use only
- Considering charging for it as a potential business project
The Problem It Solves:
- Eliminates the guesswork of online clothing shopping
- Particularly valuable for people between sizes or with specific fit requirements
- Makes vintage and international shopping more accessible
