Zoom Layoff Disaster

A story about how Better.com's CEO Vishal Garg conducted a mass layoff over Zoom in an incredibly poor manner.

The CEO gets on a Zoom call and starts with vague statements about market changes and company survival. He spends several minutes building up to the news, mentioning personal details like "last time I did this I cried, this time I hope to be stronger."

Finally, after a long wind-up, he announces they're laying off 15% of the company. The shocking part comes when he says "if you're on this call, you are part of the unlucky group" - revealing that everyone on the call was being terminated effective immediately.

He tells them they'll get an email from HR with details about their 4 weeks severance and benefits. The whole delivery was so poorly handled that employees can be heard on the recording saying things like "are you fucking kidding me" and "fuck you dude."

The commentator notes that the CEO, who runs a company worth billions and has raised over $750M, delivered this news while wearing what he calls "the douchebag uniform" - a blue collared shirt with dark blue vest and khakis - while reading slowly from a piece of paper, leaving hundreds of people enraged on the call.
