Khan's Self-Taught Legal Defense
Share
A story about how Shahid Khan cleverly defended himself against a lawsuit from his former employer by studying law himself while using a cheap lawyer to stall proceedings.
"When Khan started his own bumper company, he got sued by his previous employer Flexingate. They claimed he stole trade secrets and was now competition. Khan realized he couldn't afford proper legal representation, and he knew their strategy was to bleed him out financially since they had deeper pockets.
So he came up with an innovative strategy - he hired the cheapest lawyer he could find, basically a 'Saul Goodman' type character, just to stall the case. This way it was costing him almost nothing to continue, while it was costing them a lot of money on the lawsuit.
Then every night, after business operations were done, he would go to the library and study law so he could defend himself in court. He ended up winning the case. Meanwhile, Flexingate was losing $50,000 a month and their business wasn't healthy. In the end, Khan not only won the case, but he took his business earnings and bought out Flexingate - the very company that tried to sue him."
