Walmart SKU Marathon

A story about an entrepreneur's dedication to learning retail by turning a 3-hour drive into a 20-hour Walmart research expedition.

"He told a story about how he flew to DC and had a connecting flight to North Carolina. He decided 'You know what, screw it, I'm driving from DC to Greenville, North Carolina.' It's normally a 3-hour drive, but he noticed there were 14 Walmarts between those points on that route.

He decided to stop at every single one of them to learn. It turned a 3-hour drive into a 20-hour drive. He told me he has some app where you scan things in Walmart that teaches you about each SKU. He said he had scanned every single product in Walmart.

When someone says they've scanned all of them, you'd normally think they're exaggerating - like saying it's 1000 degrees outside. But with him, I actually believed he literally scanned every single one of them."
