George Barber's Dairy Empire

A story about how George Barber built wealth through a dairy business and created a successful motorcycle museum.

"There's this guy named George Barber. In the early 1900s his father started a dairy farm and eventually George took it over. George is either dead or in his nineties, I can't remember. He sold his dairy farm based out of Arkansas or Alabama - Barbarella, I forget - for like 5 or 600 million dollars.

With a lot of that money, he opened the Barber Museum and created an F1 racetrack in Alabama. Now they do motorcycle races, F1 races, NASCAR, all types of stuff. People from all over the world go to watch races there. He now has the largest collection of motorcycles in the world.

The way that he set it up, which is how a lot of these places are set up, is as nonprofits. You can actually go and see their assets. It's usually just like a rich guy who sets it up, but they do it in a tax advantageous way by creating a museum."
