Clubhouse VC Call Analysis

A story about how Shaan's viral Twitter thread about Clubhouse came to be.

"A high-profile VC called me one day - I had never met them before. They said I seemed interesting on Twitter and wanted to meet. During our call, they asked what I thought about Clubhouse. I think they asked because they had looked at investing but ultimately didn't invest. They were trying to figure out if missing this deal would haunt them for the next 5 years or if it was a good pass.

I went on this rant on the phone explaining all the reasons why I think it's going to struggle. They said 'Wow that was great, that was amazing.' I thought to myself 'I should have written that down - that would have been good content.'

So I quickly ended the call, went to my computer, and typed the whole thing out. I took a break for an hour, came back and edited it for about 30 minutes. Then I posted it and it went wild.

The reason it went viral was because I said something that a lot of people had been thinking but were afraid to say, or couldn't put words around. They had this hunch, and when they saw my post, they shared it because they agreed with the opinion - I had stated their opinion for them."
