Daycare Pivots Outdoors

A story about how Shaan's sister cleverly pivoted her business when faced with permit delays.

"My sister runs two childcare facilities that are in-home childcare - one's for younger kids, one's a preschool. She wanted to do a third location, but the permitting was going really slow after she bought the house.

She did this genius thing - she created a program called Nature Kids. Since she couldn't get the permit for her in-home facility and had a huge waitlist, she thought 'what if I made a nature-based program?'

She now needs no permitting. The kids go around through parks and nature, learn about plants and animals, do exercises, outdoor painting, and tree climbing. They're just out all day. Parents love it because they want their kids to be outdoors instead of cooped up looking at screens.

She now has a waitlist out the door. It could scale - she could create a franchise out of this. The Nature Kids thing is tiny now, but it's comparable to what Boy Scouts is providing."
