"Web Summit was able to iterate and start super small. They got 100 people to come to Ireland for this conference, and the next year they got 1,000, next year they got 10,000, and then they got 100,000. They were able to step it up gradually.
The founder Patty is an awesome guy - he should be whatever of Ireland someday, prime minister, president, or whatever they have over there. He's amazing. He was able to build this huge conference through iteration, which is very different than trying to create a World Fair or Olympics-scale event from the start."
