Moldy Towel Wake-Up

Sam shares a story about how his best friend's criticism of his living conditions became a catalyst for personal change.

"My best friend Neville Madora - I met him because he had a great blog on copywriting. In 2013 or 14, I cold emailed him and said 'Neville, I'm going to host this conference and I want you to come speak. I'll pay for your flight and accommodation.'

The conference was really just 15 of my friends hanging out talking. I bought him a $250 Southwest flight and he slept on my couch. When he was there, I gave him a towel to take a shower and it was a moldy towel. He said 'Dude, you are disgusting. You're acting like this bachelor 23-year-old, which you are, but you need to be a man. You need to get your act together. This is disgusting.'

I remember that changed my life. I got together my domestic skill set. I realized I needed to act like a man, dress better, be more appropriate. I had to get my act together. Neville's 6 years older than me, so he's done a good job of being like my brother and teaching me how to act like a man."
