A story about how a Portland strip club adapted their business during COVID-19 by pivoting to delivery services.
"In Portland, with coronavirus, everybody's getting deliveries right now. This strip club called Lucky Devil Lounge - when no one was coming in, they started joking around saying 'we need to do like Uber for weed delivery or Looper for sex lube delivery.' Then they came up with 'Boober' - where a topless girl picks you up and takes you to a strip club.
They ended up getting a bunch of PR from this. They even had names like 'Meals for 4 inch heels' or 'Meals in 6 inch heels.' While it started as a joke and might not have been real, it highlighted how gig workers were shifting from one industry to another during COVID. When demand went down in strip clubs, it went up in delivery, so people had to adapt to make ends meet."
