Bridgewater's Market Underperformance

Sam Parr shares a story about meeting with hedge fund professionals and learning about Bridgewater's performance.

"I talked to a guy who worked at Bridgewater recently and I asked him 'Bridgewater - I've read up on Ray Dalio, aren't you guys like the best?'

He responded, 'Sometimes we're the best, but the last 15 years we've sucked. We've underperformed the market.'

I was shocked. That's insane - 1500 employees, tens or hundreds of billions in assets, you're all paid like the best there is, and you still can't beat the market. That really put things in perspective for me about how hard it is to consistently outperform the market, even with vast resources."
