Millennial Mom Network Impact

A story about a Facebook group called "Better than Google" that became a powerful community of millennial moms sharing advice.

"There was an Instagram influencer named Amber Lancaster who created this group called 'Better than Google.' The premise is inside this group is like 17,000 millennial moms - her audience. I was asking my wife what the group was about, and she explained it's just a bunch of moms who are in their thirties trying to have a good life, be good moms, be good spouses, watch good TV shows, be healthy.

If you put a bunch of those people together, they can really help each other out. For example, a woman went on there saying her husband was cheating on her, she confronted him, and wanted to file for divorce. But over the last few days, she noticed he referenced things from her private messages. The world's greatest tech support was in the thread, telling her to log out of iCloud, check for connected devices. They helped her figure out he was reading her messages through an old iPad.

Another example - someone will ask 'Hey I got an Amazon gift card, what are your best finds?' They'll share their sizes and get really good recommendations for clothes that fit well and are good on a budget.

The beauty of this is you can share anonymously in the groups. That's part of why it works - you can post about infidelity in marriage or other sensitive topics. The trust is the keyword here. It's become this high-trust place where you can get better answers than you would from just googling something."
