A story about how a former Yu-Gi-Oh champion and poker pro built a successful slime business on TikTok.
"I met this guy who runs Peachy Babies - they sell slime on the internet, not just a little slime, but tens of millions of dollars worth. They have 10 million followers on TikTok.
Before doing this, he was a pro poker player looking to transition out. And before being a poker player, he was the best Yu-Gi-Oh player in the country. He meets this girl who tells him about this slime business she used to have but shut down. As he asked some questions, he thought it actually sounded promising and suggested they revive it. They tried it and ended up crushing it.
This totally pattern matches to what I've been saying on this podcast - people who have a background as competitive gamers or in some competitive niche, once they pick a better game, they're going to win that too. Whether it's spelling bee, Yu-Gi-Oh, poker - as soon as they decide to play a better game, they have a great ability to do excellent things."
