McGregor Rests for Peak Performance

Shaan Puri shares a story about Conor McGregor's training philosophy after losing a fight.

"Conor McGregor lost his fight to Nate Diaz, which was unexpected. The main reason he lost was his poor cardio - he had miscalculated his training and ran out of gas.

When he went back to reassess, he hired a new coach. People asked if he was training a lot more now to improve his cardio. But he said, 'No, actually it was about doing less.'

His trainer told him, 'You're like a light bulb that's always flickering. You're just at a dim level and you're never turning off. You're never really bright because you're never resting. You're always doing stuff, you're overtraining and you're never giving your body a chance to recuperate.'

So they changed his approach. He came back just a couple months later and won the next fight. His cardio had improved dramatically, which most people thought wasn't possible in such a short time. It was a great example of the importance of rest and recovery in achieving peak performance."
