Shaan tells a story about meeting a successful Instagram personality who intentionally created an over-the-top character to build his following.
"We met this guy in real life - total sweetheart and very smart guy. Super nice dude, humble. But on Instagram he has this ridiculous mustache, painted fingernails, crazy chain and a Gucci purse. He's like a male Instagram thot, but in person he's a totally respectable, humble, nice guy dad.
He told me, 'I created this character. I realized what hits on Instagram is going to be fancy cars, fancy stuff, six pack abs, hot girls.' So he does that - it's his character. He built a following of 200,000 followers. His content is hilarious.
He's selling FBA courses. He'll make videos like 'If you wanna stay being a broke idiot don't listen to this video' and then he'll be like 'Here's the first lesson for you' and flash his fancy stuff like 'This is a video of me buying this Van Cleef necklace.'
He's gonna make millions of dollars doing this, but he's cornered himself in that way. I don't think he's got any way out - that is the game he's chosen to play."
