Home Size Breeds Regret

Sam Parr shares a story about interviewing someone who owned a massive home and the unexpected burden it created.
"I interviewed this guy recently who has a 25,000 square foot home. I asked him about the expenses and how much time he spends managing vendors. He told me he spends 15 or 20 hours a week managing it. He retired, so he said 'I kind of like doing it because I don't have anything to do.'
He explained that at the time he was divorced and remarried a woman who had a bunch of kids, and he had a bunch of kids too. It was cool to have this compound where everyone could hang out. But now that they've grown up and had kids, he's trying to downsize because it's too much work.
He said 'I can't handle it anymore. I can't even change the light bulbs because they're too high and I'm not going to get on the ladder. It's just way too much work.'"
