Splaschn App Hits $250k

A story about how a man named Josh Dunning created a viral app after noticing kids playing a water gun game at his wife's high school.
"Josh's wife is a high school teacher, and when he would pick her up from school, he noticed kids were coming into schools and blasting each other with water guns. His wife told him the kids were obsessed with this game called 'assassins' where one person is the target and others have to find them and shoot them first with water guns to get points.
He saw they were using paper sheets to keep track of the game, so he built an app called Splaschn to manage it. He messaged Ben sharing his revenue numbers: Week 1 was small, Week 2 modest, Week 3 hit $40k, Week 4 jumped to $93k, then $167k, and now they're at $250k per month. They're getting 5,000 sign-ups per day.
The app has playground virality - if one group of people are playing Splaschn in your school, you have to get the app or you're left out. Their TikTok content shows people running around with water guns, diving under bleachers, jumping through windows. The videos start with someone chasing and splashing another person, then explain what game they're playing, showing these crazy compilations of people playing. It's a summer fling type of app, but who cares - it's working incredibly well."
