A story about how Charlie Munger used inversion thinking to simplify pilot safety when he was a military meteorologist during World War 2.
"When he was a military meteorologist in World War 2, his job was to keep pilots safe. Instead of studying everything about pilot safety from 7 textbooks, he worked backwards and asked 'What are the most likely causes of crashes or incidents for pilots?'
He discovered a much simpler answer - he just needed to be able to predict snow, ice, and fog really well. As a military meteorologist, if he could help pilots avoid those 3 conditions, he could ignore everything else because those were the real killers."
