Belsky's Hustle Investment
Share
Sam Parr shares how Scott Belsky, chief product officer of Adobe, became an early believer in him and The Hustle.
"Scott Belsky was one of my first believers. He's currently the chief product officer of Adobe and probably a billionaire because he's started and sold many companies. I cold emailed him when I first started The Hustle asking him to invest and he said no.
About 6-8 weeks later, he was on our daily email and I got an email from him, particularly when I was having a horrible day. He wrote 'these emails are just so good I have to join' and gave me like $15,000.
I only met with Scott in person one time because he was a big deal back then. He had one meeting with me where he taught me the word 'steward' - like you are a steward of this capital, a steward of the brand. He gave me this pump-up talk saying 'I could tell you were gonna be a steward of The Hustle and a steward of my money and anyone else's money.'
It changed my life that Scott Belsky believed in me and used this word 'steward.' I was so into it. The fact that he gave me the time of day was game-changing. I felt like I was the man, there was no one better than me, and I had that energy because of that meeting."
