Sacca's Rehearsed Spontaneity

Shaan shares a story about discovering how Chris Sacca, a successful investor, carefully crafts and repeats his storytelling performances.

"I met Chris Sacca in person - for those who don't know, he's one of the best investors ever. He's already retired and now only invests in climate change stuff because he's already won the game of money and success.

When I met him, he told this story and had all these little offhand moments where he'd say things like 'I didn't realize that at the time' or he'd correct himself saying 'well, I guess no, that would mean this...' Then one day I saw him on CNBC and he said the exact same thing, the exact same way, like a comedian does in their sets.

It made me realize there's levels to this. It's like comedy, like storytelling, like a Broadway show that goes on stage every night. There's a new person in the crowd and they have to do it like it's their best performance ever, like it's the first time they've ever done it. You craft these stories that hit, and you tell them over and over. Once you have them in your bank, you can use them repeatedly and people feel a certain way about you."
