Pivoting Gym Launch to Remote Model
Share
Alex shares how he pivoted his gym turnaround business to a more scalable model, leading to rapid growth.
"We were doing gym turnarounds where I'd fly out to gyms and fill them up. Then one day, we're sitting at the kitchen table and I realized we could cut the gym owner out and sell straight to consumers.
I spent 48 hours, took a ton of Adderall, and wrote the best sales letter of my life. We got ads live in 48 hours and started doing $500 to $1000 a day.
Then I called up the gyms that were supposed to launch the next month and said we're not flying out. One guy said he needed this, so I quoted him $6,000 to show him how we did it remotely. He immediately agreed.
I called the next guy, same conversation, quoted $8,000. He agreed. Next call, $10,000. By the end of the day, I did $60,000 in cash collected.
I called Leila and said, 'I think we're still in the gym business.' We realized we just needed to show them how we fill gyms rather than flying out and doing it for them. Let them take the risk on ad spend and hotels.
We called the 30+ gyms we'd turned around before and offered to show them how we did it. Almost all of them said yes. We did $240,000 in sales in the next 30 days, almost all profit. That's what became Gym Launch."
