Craigslist Book Club Millionaire

Sam Parr shares how he met successful entrepreneur Sieva Kozinsky through a book club he started in San Francisco.

"I created this book club called the Anti MBA. The idea was we'd read one book per month, break it up into quarters. Week 1 we'd read a quarter and discuss it, Week 2 the second half, and I would have an expert come in on the book's topic. We would shoot the shit with about 20-30 people.

I posted ads on Craigslist, Meetup.com, and even bought an ad in the newspaper for $200. Sieva was one of the people who replied. After doing this every week for about a year, I had an email list of 2,000 people following the book club online because I would write out my notes from the meetings.

That book club changed my life. It was such a fun way to meet interesting people. Most people didn't even read the book - they just wanted to talk about it because I wrote summaries ahead of time.

Sieva is now one of my best friends and has a business that does close to $100 million a year in revenue. We were just all losers who were ambitious but had nothing, and I did a good job of cold emailing those types of people and we hung out a lot."
