Mystery Investor's Market Predictions

Shaan tells a story about a mysterious investor friend who has consistently predicted major trends years before they became mainstream.

"I have a friend who is a very different kind of investor. What you see on Twitter often is people who like to be loud about what they do, spraying and praying with 50 angel investments of $20k checks. My friend is different - he says that in every year there's like one or two things that matter.

I've known him for maybe 10 years now. At one time he said 'Bitcoin, it's Bitcoin right now.' This was around 2013-2015. Then he was the one who said 'OnlyFans, I'm all in on OnlyFans' before any revenue numbers had come out. I was at Twitch at the time and he said 'OnlyFans is going to be bigger than Twitch.' I said 'No way, Twitch is one of the biggest internet sites on earth' and he said 'Trust me, it's going to be bigger.'

Then about 9-12 months ago he told me 'GLP is bigger than GPT.' He was trying to figure out how to invest in Ozempic and these GLP drugs. Yesterday he sends me an article - a pharmaceutical company called Karmo got bought for $3 billion. He had invested in them 7 years ago because they were drug makers attacking obesity in a different way. Looking at the charts about what kills everybody, obesity is a massive problem and there weren't many interesting bets attacking it differently."
