Sully's Facebook Investment
Share
A story about how an entrepreneur named Sully took a bold bet by investing his acquisition proceeds into pre-IPO Facebook stock.
"Back in the day, Sully had this company that was building Facebook apps and he sold it for between $1-3 million. Since he had been building on the Facebook app platform, he had seen how quickly things were growing. Even though his app wasn't a great business - it was just one of those silly Facebook apps - he realized Facebook itself wasn't silly.
He took a bunch of that acquisition money and, similar to Chris Sacca, he aggressively started buying up Facebook stock before it was public. He also went to Florida and bought a bunch of real estate.
What impressed me was that when he knew something was good, he was like 'How do I take all the money I have and put it into this Facebook thing I believe in?' And simultaneously, he started building his next business right away. I really admired him and thought that was a great example to follow."
