Remote Medical Scribes

Sam Parr shares a story about discovering medical scribes during a recent pediatrician visit, highlighting the evolution of medical documentation.

"I went to the pediatrician yesterday with my baby. I'm sitting there, and she's got her iPad on a table with a video, and I'm like 'Who is that guy?' They explained 'Oh that's just my scribe, he's listening in and taking notes.'

She told me, 'I used to stay up until 3 AM taking notes on all of my patients.' Now they just do it for her. I've never seen such a thing, and she's like 'Oh, this has been around for a long time.' I was amazed - I'd never seen that before.

It was incredible to see how this job evolved from doctors doing their own notes, to having in-office scribes, to outsourcing to remote scribes, showing how this task could eventually be handled by AI."
