Military Writing Beginnings
Share
A story about how Jack Carr began his writing journey while transitioning out of the military.
"I started writing the first book when I was still in, as I was getting out of the military. In December of 2014, I wrote my first words for the first book. That came out in 2018, and there's been one book a year ever since. This is the first year with two books.
I had no connection to Hollywood, no connection to publishing, no social media presence, not even a Facebook page. But I was writing because I always knew I wanted to be a Navy SEAL and write thrillers - those were my two goals since childhood. In the SEAL teams, you wanted to keep anything about writing close to the vest.
My wife has known I wanted to be a SEAL and write since we were 18 years old, so she's been on this journey the entire time. But how it manifested is in a way I never would have expected. The first book, Terminal List, was published in March 2018, and now we're up to seven books in the series, plus my first nonfiction coming out this September."
